A Very Rainy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
It was a very, very rainy Sunday here in Kentucky. I don't think it stopped raining all day. I was shocked, shocked I tell you, when I talked to my mom and she said it was 90 degrees in Oregon today! It's not often those Oregonians best us Kentuckians on the weather. I guess there's a first time for everything :)
I love my mom, and I wish I could have spent Mother's Day with her. One of the things I miss most about Oregon is the ability to jump in my car and in a matter of hours, be at my parent's doorstep. I guess that's growing up though, right?
I, for one, think my mom did an excellent job raising me. I thank her for always being there for me. I thank her for making my stubborn a$$ play sports when I was a kid. I thank her for pushing me out of my comfort zone when I was a teenager, and making me go to volleyball camp. I thank her for raising me an Oregon Duck, so that I chose to go to the University of Oregon for college. I thank her for coming to every single sorority event I invited her to. I thank her for welcoming the hubby with open arms into the family from Day 1. I thank her for supporting us when we told her we were moving to Kentucky, and not crying too hard. She's done an amazing job.
I'm also very thankful to a few other mother's in my life. I also thank the hubby's mother. She did an incredible job raising him, for without him, who knows where I'd be and what I would be doing now.
The hubby was out there in the pouring down rain today, putting up our mailbox for the new house.
That's a pretty selfless guy :)
I'm thankful for the hubby's aunt, who also raised a successful, well-adjusted son and has taken me under her wing in the family since the first time I met her. Her and her husband have been hugely supportive since the hubby and I moved to Kentucky.
I'm thankful to have the hubby's sister in my life. That woman has 3 kids under the age of 5 and somehow, somehow has managed to keep her sanity.
And finally, there's me :) Hey, I'm "Mom" to my adorable fur baby's!
Happy Mother's Day everyone, and I hope you all had a good weekend :)
