Lately: January 2015

Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone!

Oh, how I love Superbowl Sunday. It truly is a holiday for me and the hubby. We make hot wings, drink beer, snack on chips and salsa, and oh yeah, watch some football. Our holiday is going to be cut short this year, as the hubby has to work, but we are still making wings. I can't wait.
I heart buffalo sauce. I love those hot, spicy, crunchy, moist little hot wings of goodness. The plan is to document the process so I can finally share the recipe with all of you!

It's been quite a while since I did a "Lately" post, so here I am. Besides being creative in the kitchen, here's what I've been up to lately-

Our first batch of homemade ice cream! It was everything we expected and I can't wait to make more.

My sister-in-law and me being silly. One too many mimosa's at a family baby shower :)

This was Christmas Cookie Madness. And what my dining room table looked like for a couple of weeks!

The hubby and I woke up to this last week. We were't even expecting it. There's something so pretty about the first snow.

Little evergreens in the snow.

My newest home-ec project, homemade lip balm. One part shea butter, one part beeswax, one part coconut oil, and a couple drops of essential oil. I know now that vanilla oil is somewhat overwhelmed by the shea butter, so I'll be trying a different flavor and/or formula. I've got freeze-dried raspberries on the way, so we'll see if I like that flavor better. I'm hoping to share this project with everyone when I'm done :)

I have many, many Chihuahua pictures to share. You've been warned :)

Haloti says, "What? It's my room too!"

One of Haloti's favorite toys, the Taco Bell Christmas Chihuahua. Haloti always bites the eyes off his toys, which can be a little disconcerting...

Snuggling on the heating pad after being forced out into the snow.

The older Gizmo gets, the more his tongue hangs out.

Haloti could not put his Christmas bone down for 1 second, so he slept with it.

Gizmo just placed his Christmas bone in his bed with him.

My niece's cheerleading team, where they placed 1st in a regional qualifying competition. Getting 1st in this competition earned these girls a spot at State, where they got 2nd! I never knew anything like this existed for girls this age, she's just earning tons of experience at a young age. I couldn't be more proud.

Plus, she's super-cute :)

And now a few pics from a 32-year old's birthday. Yep, me!

You must have a dance party at a 32-year old's birthday.

The hubby demonstrating his awesome dance moves!

The hubby's cousin and his wife with me.

I could not stop laughing for our selfie!

A margarita fit for a 32-year old.

The hubby's cousin made this snow in his front yard!

Yummy, yummy snacks for the Rose Bowl. Mom's Famous Family Clam Dip and a shrimp ring. Some of my favorite football snacks :)

~I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! Enjoy the Superbowl!~

  1. Happy Super Bowl Sunday. Since Mom's book club uses this as an excuse to take appetizers to the next level, all I have to do is make sure the food supplies are topped off, the ice chest is full, the waste paper is properly recycled, dessert is rolled out at the right time, decaf is ready for the designated drivers, sneak peeks at the game, keep LB out of the master bedroom where Kobe is stashed, and be a gracious host. When everyone leaves, I then disappear with Kobe while Mom relives the game. Easy day all around. Whew!
Wings. Now, there's something I could look forward to.

    1. Whew! Sounds like you had a busy evening. I'm sure you were ecstatic with the results, as I am not. Stupid Patriots. The wings were excellent though! Yum yum!
