More About Me

The runner, photographer, foodie, and all-around goofy girl behind the blog? That would be me.

I am a 33-year old native Oregonian living in rural Kentucky with my husband and 3 Chihuahuas. After living in Oregon for 27 years, Kentucky has been a cultural shock. That being said, I love Kentucky. It's beautiful, wide-open, and the pace of life is much slower than my former home of Portland. My life has changed completely upon leaving Oregon. I was formerly an operations analyst for a large regional bank, averaging anywhere from 60-80 hours a week. Now, I'm a homemaker and I couldn't love life more.

How did we end up in Kentucky, you ask? Here's how-

I met my husband in 2006, and by July of 2009, we were married.

About a year after getting married, with me working impossible hours at my corporate job and the hubby looking for work due to the financial crisis of 2007-08, we decided to make a big change. The hubby grew up in Kentucky and had connections here, so we decided to pack up our house, our dogs, and our lives and make the cross-country trip in December of 2010.

That first year in Kentucky was tough. But we made it! In December of 2011, the hubby began work with his current company, and it's all been downhill from there. In July of 2012, we began construction on our home-

And by December of 2012, our home was completed.

I love my house so much. I lovingly refer to it as "The homestead".

In April of 2015, the hubby and I headed to North Carolina to pick up the newest member of our family-

We adopted Mariota from a shelter there, and we haven't looked back since. We can't imagine life without him now. Mariota became the youngest brother to Haloti-

And Gizmo-

We haven't had a problem adjusting to life with 3 dogs-

The family just feels more complete now :-)

This almost decade-old love story continues to roll along...

And that's about all I can think of to tell you about me! Stay tuned for kitchen adventures, family hilarity, and plenty of doggie hijinks :-) Feel free to email me with any comments or questions!

  1. Such a sweet story! It must have been some fantastic job that called you to Kentucky - it must have been a big culture shock for sure but there are wonderful things about the Wildcat State like a rich history of storied families. Your blog is wonderful and I look forward to following it!

    1. Moving to Kentucky was a culture shock at first, but it didn't take me long to acclimate. Now I can't imagine living in Oregon again, I love Kentucky.

Thank you for following my blog! I appreciate it more than people know :)
