Summer Essentials

Changing products with the temperature is totally normal for most girls. We change how dress in the summer, we change our hair color in the summer, and most of us change the beauty products we use in the summer. If you were to peek in my summer essentials bag, here's what you'd find that I need to make it through summer. Gracefully :)

1. Light Moisturizers

I love Garnier's Moisture Rescue line. They are very light moisturizers. The daytime formula has SPF in it and doesn't clog my pores. It's hard for me to find an SPF moisturizer that doesn't clog my pores. The gel cream I use at night. It's cool and refreshing at the end of a hot day, and this also doesn't clog my pores. It doesn't weigh my skin down with heavy moisturizers, and leave me looking like a greasy teenager the next day. Big plus :)

2. Chapstick

On any given day, you will be able to find at least 4 different kinds of chap stick in my purse. The one brand you are guaranteed to find at all times? The blue variety of plain ol' chap stick. I've searched high and low, tried every balm on the market, and this is where I find myself every.single.time. I think it's the best chap stick ever created basically. I use it year round, but it's especially important in the summer. This balm contains SPF and as any aging woman knows, the sun is our enemy! I apply this liberally, all day long, to keep my lips super soft.

3. Top-Notch Razor
A razor is soooooo important, especially when you are shaving basically every day. Red bumps from irritation or in-grown hairs are not attractive. I'm especially fond of the Venus Embrace, which has 5 blades. It makes for a super-soft shave. It's also important in the summer to really lather up your legs with shaving cream/gel to buffer against irritation. I've found that a light touch with short, feathery strokes results in the softest shave without risk of irritation.

4. Self-Tanner
While the sun may be my enemy, a tan is not. I don't like a lot of color, just enough to keep my pasty-white spider veins from showing up. I like this spray tan from L'Oreal for a couple of reasons. Number one being even coverage. You simply spray on and you don't even have to rub it in. Number two, longevity. I usually have the hubby spray me down once a week and that's enough color for me. Like I said, I don't like to be dark, just not pasty. Number three, this product doesn't transfer on to my towels, sheets, or clothes. No need to fear the white shorts!

5. Cellulite Cream

Ok, I hear you nay-sayers saying cellulite cream doesn't work. I'm here to tell you that it does. Let me be clear, though. I'm not saying this is a long-term solution, because it's very much not. But if you want a short pick-me up, this will be your new best friend. I always keep this on hand when going to the pool, or the lake, or wherever you are wearing a swimsuit. It instantly tightens skin, and lasts for a couple of hours as well. I actually apply it all over when I'm wearing a bikini, for a tight look everywhere. I reapply through-out the day as needed. It's one of my very best friends during the summer :)

6. Heat Protection Spray
A must during the summer. Not only for blowdrying and/or flat-ironing. A good heat protection spray protects your hair in the sunshine as well. I'm naturally prone to dry hair, so this is a must for me to prevent straw-hair syndrome. I try as much as I can not to heat style in the summer, but sometimes I must. I use this when I'm not heat styling as well, as protection from the sun. It always leaves my hair feeling extra soft.

These are my necessities for summer. I'm sure every woman has her own list of what she considers summer necessities, let's just hope they include sunscreen!

Happy Sunday everyone! :)
