Hey, It's Ok... Fantasy Football Edition

So, I guess I could be considered a girly-girl. I like clothes, makeup, shoes, purses, shopping, hair, etc. However, this girly-girl loves football. I grew up in a football-centric household. If there was a football game on TV, the TV would be on that channel. No if's, and's, or but's about it. No negotiations. My childhood home was a football dictatorship run by my mom. Yes, my mom. Maybe I inherited my love of football from her? It's hard to say. All I know is I was raised in a household where when my brother brought home a girl from the Bronx, New York, she was completely flabbergasted that my mom and I were at a college football game, and my dad was home cleaning the house and cooking us dinner. I look forward to football season every year, it's like Christmas time for me. I love Saturday's spent watching college football, Sunday's spent watching the NFL, and Monday night's with pizza, beer, and MNF. And one of my favorite parts of football season? Fantasy football! This could be why I like fall so much... Nevertheless, here is my fantasy football edition of "Hey, it's ok..."

Hey, it's ok...

-if you've had one too many gin and tonics on draft day, and your first round draft pick is Mark Sanchez. Quarterback's not an important position, right?

-to call your commissioner and tell them that your hot water heater blew up, taking out your electrical grid, and causing a massive power outage, which stopped you from setting your lineup and could they please just unlock the lineup so you can set it?

-to hastily add that the hot water heater also took out your wireless internet, so you couldn't even set your lineup on your phone.

-if Week 6 you are desperately searching the waiver wires for a wide receiver after Reggie Wayne just dropped his millionth pass of the season.

-if you have an epic meltdown (complete with screaming, tears, and snot) after Reggie Wayne scores more points than he ever has the week after you drop him.

-to ponder if you are bipolar after your defense (the Broncos) intercepts a ball late in the 4th quarter, and instead of a pick 6, Danny Trevathan drops the ball at the 1 yard line. You've never gone from so elated to so pissed so fast.

-if you win your league, and believe you own bragging rights for the next 5 years.

-if you picture laying waste to your spouse in your head when they take Peyton Manning before you, even when you told them that's the only person you cared was on your roster.

-to make your spouse sleep on the couch for their audacity in participating in this Manning-gate.

-to secretly cheer for your team's division rival because you have their quarterback and tight-end. Even when they are playing your team. Just don't admit this one out loud.

-to be apprehensive about watching football around children, the elderly, or your in-laws, because you are actually afraid of what might come out of your mouth after downing a 6-pack of beer.

-if you go into a deep depression followed by a drinking binge when football season is over. Now who will you scream and throw your beer can at on Sunday's??

Lately-ish

Haloti looks crazy!

I was at the self-checkout at Walmart, attempting to run my debit card. Apparently, their machines were having trouble. The terminal didn't take my card the first, or second time, but it did print out this "receipt" when it rejected my card the 2nd time. I took this to the cashier to see what I needed to do. The cashier looked at this for 1 second and then snapped at me that this was a receipt, I was fine to go. I just kind of shook my head as I left. Sure enough, this purchase never hit my bank account. Maybe the cashier should have taken 2 seconds to listen to me.

Wild turkeys!

Seared Pork Chops and Roasted Baby Carrots with a Mustard-Pan Sauce.

This is inevitably what happens when I try to work out at home.

This is what happens when I ignore him when I'm trying to work out :)

Siri is apparently an Oregon State fan.  This is the answer you get when you ask her what her favorite college football team is.

The 4-Year Mark

I cannot believe it's been 4 years. 1461 days, give or take. I might be missing a leap year in that calculation, but I don't think so. Our wedding day is still so vivid in my memory, it feels like yesterday. Crazy.

I wouldn't change a moment of anything that has happened. We've gone through some tough times, but they've all got us to where we are today. I wouldn't trade where we are today for a second. I can't believe how much things have changed in just a year. Last year at this time, construction had barely begun on our home. We were semi-homeless, living between the hubby's aunt's house and his mother's. All of our things were in storage, and the memory of living in that rental house was still painfully fresh. Today? We are settled, happy, and satisfied in our new home. After everything we went through in the last year, things look so good from where we're at.

So, I wanted to post pictures of the hubby and me that I haven't previously posted. Which means I had to do some serious digging through i-Photo. It was worth it, because I found some classically classy pictures, as well as some classically goofy pictures.

4. I've got a girl-crush on Jennifer Lawrence.

Trip Update: 10/10/12

We've been on vacation almost 2 weeks now. It's been heaven! We've gone to a majority of our favorite restaurants, been to a Duck's football game, and seen a lot of people we've missed. Oh, and just so you know. I totally started this post yesterday, literally got yanked away from the computer, and never made it back. It's hard to blog when you never have time!

Last Saturday was the hubby's birthday, and also a home football game for the Oregon Duck's. My mom, being a season ticket holder, gave the hubby and I her tickets for Saturday's game against the Washington Huskies for his birthday. I drove up to Eugene on Friday night to spend some time with one of my oldest friends. The night that ensued only brings to mind the time we spent together when we were younger. I haven't had a night like that, oh, probably since my bachelorette party. And now I know why.  I'm not that young anymore, as evidenced by the 2-day hangover I was bestowed with after our night out. I made it to the game with the hubby, and I will only say he was less than sympathetic about my hangover. He did warn me not to have too much fun. Too much fun? Does that even exist?

Yes, yes it does.

I've been having a fabulous time in the kitchen. Tuesday night, I made a Bourbon Glazed Chicken, Spinach and Parmesan Basmati Rice, and Sauteed Grape Tomatoes. Delish! We called this a "freezer meal". I grabbed a bunch of things from my parents freezer to make this, I didn't have to get a single thing at the store. I think my parent's are well stocked for the apocalypse. I'm planning on doing some baking today, I found a recipe for Banana Cinnamon Swirl Bread that I'm going to try.

Also made yummy, yummy Snickerdoodles. They're all gone now :)

I always have an audience when I'm cooking, one of my observers usually being my dog. He likes to think he is a person, and sit at the bar when people are in the kitchen.

Gizmo adores sleeping on my parent's end tables in the living room. I know, not the best manners, but my parent's don't seem to mind.

On Sunday after the hubby's birthday, we had a brunch at my parents house. My brother and his fiance were there, as well as some close family friends and their parents. Two giant bottles of champagne were drank in mimosas, and we ate a ton of food :)

The hubby just had to take a patio heater to the next level yesterday. It hasn't been working for awhile, so the hubby took it upon himself to take it apart and figure out why. He battled a nest of bees with an air compressor, and in short, had a fabulous time killing insects with high-powered air.

We've also made a small trip to Portland to stay with some friends. It was a short, one-nighter which means we will have to make it back at some point to see more friends. Whilst we were in Portland though, we had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants (Salvador Molly's) and lunch the next day at Mio Sushi. I've missed sushi so much. It's not nearly as... fresh in Kentucky.

We are halfway through our trip, I'm sooooo sad. Especially when the hubby and I hear that nothing has happened at our house. The hubby and I leave for a month, and the project falls apart. It figures. Anyhoo, I'm heading to the Oregon Coast tomorrow, and will be spending Friday night there. I love the coast :)

The Three-Year Mark

It's the hubby and I's 3rd anniversary!

On this day, 3 years ago, I married my best friend. Two crazy kids got married for better, or for worse, during one of the most challenging times our relationship had been through. Now, 3 years later, we are emerging from that difficult time even stronger than when we went into it. We've been through so much together- weight gain and weight loss, many different hair colors, my previous job working 60 hours a week, unemployment, and a cross country move. 3 years feels like forever, and I don't mean that in a bad way.

Pretty soon our house will be done, and we will be moving on to a new chapter in our lives. There will be many more adventures, and I guarantee it will be a crazy ride that's never boring. I think we're up to the challenge :)

Some of our adventures:

The first time we went to Hawaii.
At one of the dozens of Oregon Duck football games we went to. I'm guessing it was one of the first, due to our lack of Duck wear.
Tailgating
And more tailgating!
Celebrating with the fam when my brother graduated from college.
The first time we took Haloti to the beach.
Haloti's first trip to Multnomah Falls.
We do a lot of tailgating!
Our New Year's Eve, shortly after we got engaged.
Whistler, Canada
Our toast, 3 years ago today.
Jerame's 33rd birthday.
Mo's in Newport, OR.
My 29th birthday. Fried alligator and all.
4th of July.
Of course, toasting the newest chapter in our lives.

Happy Anniversary Hubby! I'm looking forward to the next 3 years we spend together :)
