Backyard Update!

Yesterday I shared some pictures on my personal FaceBook page showing the backyard update, so now it's time to share the pictures with the rest of the blogosphere! We (and by we, I mean the hubby) have worked our butts off on the yard, and it has paid off. I am so incredibly pleased with the yard.

So, for a reminder, here's what the backyard looked like in December of 2012:

This is from a side angle, but you can see- no patio, no walkway, no GRASS, nothing.

For the last 3 summer's, we've had grass, the patio, and the garden. But that was it.

Another of March that year. It looks like we just moved in!

Here's the garden last month. Looks good, but you'll notice all the grass and weeds around my raised beds.

This is the finished product! This is looking out at the yard from the patio. The hubby did a great job laying down landscaping fabric and mulching around the garden. It adds so much! (Click on the pictures to enlarge- you gotta love Blogger, ha ha)

Those were 2 more shots showing the weeds around the garden area.

The landscaping really gives the yard a finished look. I've spent way too much time out there, admiring the hubby's handiwork.

We also decided it was time for patio furniture. It's been a loooooong time since we've had patio furniture, as we left our last set in Oregon right before we moved. Oh, and Haloti was my photography assistant for the day :-)

If you are wondering what that little fenced-in area is, well, that's to keep the dogs out. LOL. There's a bird treat hanging right there and it's made out of dried mealworms. The birds peck at the treat and the worms fall on the ground. The dogs have been eating the worms on the ground. These worms don't seem to agree with the dogs, as they promptly come inside and throw up somewhere. Why do they keep eating them?? At any rate, I was so sick of it that I had the hubby fence the area to keep the dogs out.

Dogs, right?

Looking at the patio from the yard.

My tomato area and hummingbird feeder.

More shots of my beautiful assistant :-)

Haloti loves the fence. When the hubby and I sit on the patio, he'll stay out making multiple laps around the perimeter. He just loves being outside. I like to say the poor guy is a big dog stuck in a Chihuahua's body.

A closer look at my tomatoes, which are looking a lot better after the cold, wet spring.

I love our patio set!

It's got beautiful tile around the outside and then tinted glass in the middle. There's actually a little light in the center as well.

I also love the umbrella we got, it really finishes the look.

So, that's the backyard! Lots of progress has been made sine 2012. Onward and upward! :-)

Happy Tuesday friends!

    1. Thank you Kris! I love seeing the progress, it makes me jump for joy! We were so pleased with the table, especially since we went to several stores that weren't selling anymore furniture for the season! Crazy that stores move towards fall in June!

And cocktails? They've been flowing! :-)
