25 Fruity Recipes

Hello from snowy Kentucky!

Actually, not so snowy now. Yesterday it got up to 50º and much of the snow has melted, much to my relief and those Chihuahuas. I opened the living room windows this morning and was shocked to see that at least 3 inches of snow melted overnight. This has to make my birds happy. The homestead has been overrun the last couple of days, complete with birds that never come to the feeders or yard. I had a large flock of starlings pass through yesterday, and a few days ago a foursome of Eastern Meadowlarks foraged the yard. Us birders get the biggest kick out of seeing new birds in our yards.

But the snow. The hubby and I were snowed in for the weekend. This was fine with me, since I was recuperating from the steroid shot. Thankfully, the hot flashes are gone. Ugh, those were absolutely awful. I have new sympathy for women going through the dreaded "Change". After 3 days of being cooped up in the house, I was ready to get out yesterday. Since our private lane was still snow-covered yesterday, I basically tried to gain speed on our lane to propel myself out onto the properly plowed county road. It worked. There may have been a second I was worried I wasn't going to gain enough traction to get on the road, which usually leads to the car sliding slowly backward into a fence. That's so not Raven. But I made it! I was able to replenish the grocery stockpile as well as quell the cabin fever.

So, what better to post right after Winter Storm Jonas? A collection of summery fruit recipes! Because it's right about this time of year that I start longing for the salads, lightness, and fruitiness of summer. Right smack in the dead of winter. And truly people, you can make all of these recipes with frozen fruit. Well, maybe not the Watermelon Moscato Slushies. Tuck that one away for summer, but the rest can be made conveniently all year long.

On to the fruit!

  1. Hi Jessica :)

I'm sorry you had to go through that whole ordeal with your back, but I'm glad you're feeling much better. Nothing makes me tired either, so I get it.

I was wondering how much snow you were going to get and how the babies would deal with it. I'm glad it's melting pretty quickly.

I'm on a fruity, salary kick too, which is weird for me at this time of year, but I'm trying to lose weight, so thank you :)

    1. Thanks Rue! It's been about a week and half, and I'm feeling much, much better. Except now I get another shot this week, LOL.

January just seems to be the salad month. So much rich food during the holiday season will do that! I'm still up a few lbs from the holidays, so my waistline is thanking me for the salads too :-)

Hope you are having a great weekend Rue! :-)
